Description

ADJUSTABLE CROSSHEAD

An adjustable crosshead is an innovative component of slab formwork that allows for an increase in the working height of construction props. Allows for positioning formwork beams higher – by up to 35.5 cm beyond the maximum reach of a standard prop.

It features a threaded rod with an adjustment nut, a flat support plate, and robust arms that ensure the stability of H20 beams.

Key advantages:

  • Extended reach for props: enables the formwork beams to be positioned up to 35.5 cm higher without the need to purchase taller props.
  • Precise height adjustment: the threaded rod allows for accurate leveling of the formwork structure to the required dimension.
  • Operational safety: the design includes a special safety feature for the rod at the 35.5 cm mark, which prevents the nut from being accidentally unscrewed completely.
  • Versatile beam placement: the appropriate spacing of the head allows for the stable support of either a single girder or two beams placed side-by-side at their connection points.
  • Corrosion protection: durable galvanized steel effectively protects the component against the damaging effects of moisture and weather conditions.

Head installation procedure:

  1. Insert the threaded rod of the head into the top opening of the slab prop tube.
  2. Use the adjustment nut to set the required height, ensuring you do not exceed the safe extension range.
  3. Place the H20 timber girders onto the head plate, between its arms.
  4. Perform precise leveling of the formwork by turning nut before proceeding to lay the slab formwork panels.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What is the difference between an adjustable head and a standard cross-head?

A standard head is used solely to support the formwork beam at a fixed height on the prop. An adjustable head features a threaded rod, which allows for additional height adjustment and precise leveling of the formwork.

2. What is the maximum height by which the formwork beams can be raised?

The maximum safe adjustment range is 35.5 cm. The rod features a special locking mechanism that prevents the nut from being unscrewed beyond a certain point, which could otherwise create a hazardous situation.

3. Is it possible to place two beams side-by-side on an adjustable head?

Yes; the specific dimensions of the head (17.8 x 9 cm) allow for the stable support of either one or two H20 beams simultaneously.
